Reindeer Herder Tour Itinerary

  • Upon arrival at Chinggis Khan International Airport, our guide will greet you and transfer you to your hotel. If time permits, join us for dinner and an introduction to Ulaanbaatar, including a visit to Sukhbaatar Square. We may also visit a money exchange and grocery store for last-minute supplies. Overnight stay in a hotel. (L-D)

  • Fly from UB to Murun and meet the Sayat Travel team at Murun airport, including an English-speaking guide, driver, and cook. Drive 100km to Khuvsgul Lake, the second most voluminous freshwater lake in Asia. Enjoy spectacular views, local wildlife, and campfires. Overnight accommodation in a tent or wooden cabin. (L-D)

  • After breakfast, drive to Ulaan-Uul village, 171km northwest of Murun city. Experience beautiful rivers, valleys, and mountain passes with small stops for photography and a picnic lunch. Overnight stay in a tent or wooden cabin. (B-L-D)

  • Early morning drive to Tsaagan Nuur village. Check in at the Army headquarters, secure permission to enter the Taiga region, and meet the Tsaatan nomad family providing horses and reindeer. Experience Mongolian traditional food and sleep in a Ger/Yurt. (B-L-D)

  • Pack main gear in the morning and start riding to the East Taiga Forest. The journey includes spectacular scenery, mountains, streams, and the chance to see wild, red-colored deer. Arrive at the teepees of the reindeer families for an authentic Tsaatan experience. Overnight stay in a teepee. (B-L-D)

  • A full day to experience Tsaatan reindeer herder's everyday life, ride reindeer, and participate in chores. Overnight stay in a teepee. (B-L-D)

  • After two days in the Taiga, bid farewell to the Mongolian family and ride back to Tsaagan Nuur. Enjoy a swim in the lake if weather permits. Overnight stay in a Ger. (B-L-D)

  • Drive back to Murun, passing rivers and mountain passes with stops for lunch and photography. Overnight stay in a hotel. (B-L-D)

  • After breakfast, your guide will accompany you to the local airport for your return flight to Ulaanbaatar. Enjoy a free evening to explore the city. Overnight stay in a hotel. (B-L-D)

  • Transfer to Chinggis Khan International Airport for your return flight home or further adventures in other regions of Mongolia, such as the Altai Mountains or Gobi Desert. (B)
